I started with a frame for the bow and stern that slips over the existing side rails of the wagon. This way there is nothing permanently affixed to the rails and hopefully will not scratch the woodwork. There are also vertical blocks on the side that will keep the hull slats from rubbing the woodwork.
Next I cut slats for the hull from 1/4" luan plywood. On the back side of these I made some 2mm relief cuts to make the plywood easier to bend.
Then it was time to start forming the hull:
